Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia): The third Interfaith Harmony Conference held on 3 – 8 February as part of the UN World Interfaith Harmony Week concluded here in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. The conference was collaboratively organised by Ma’din Academy in collaboration with Malaysian Prime Minister’s Department for Unity and Integration, Malaysian International Islamic University and OIC Today.

A delegation of 50 members headed by Ma’din chairman Sayyid Ibrahimul Khaleel Al Bukhari attended various programmes at Malaysian International Islamic University and Putrajaya, the federal administrative centre of Malaysia. The conference that lasted six days was inaugurated by Dr.K.Rahman Khan, the Union Minister of Minority Affairs, Govt. of India. Dr. Robert Dickson Crane, the former advisor to the late president of America Richard Nixon delivered the keynote address.

Ma’din chairman Sayyid Ibrahimul Khaleel Al Bukhar who is in the advisory panel of the conference spoke on the ‘Experience of Moderation in India’at the seminar, which was attended by diplomats, academics, and media persons from Malaysia and several other countries.

As part of the harmony programme, a harmony visit was conducted in Putrajaya and there were also arranged interviews with various religious sects at Brickfields. Under the Architectural Department of Malaysian University, there was arranged an exhibition on reputed Kerala architect P.A. Nazeer Khan (A Builder of Dreams P.A. Nazeer Khan Solo Exhibition). Dr.Rahman Khan presented a special award to Nazeer Khan in recognition of his superb craftsmanship in architectural field.

The third International Harmony Award for Undersecretary of the Ministry of Kuwait Awqaf Dr. Adel Al-Falah was received by Kuwait Moderation Centre director Ali Al-Shaddad.Dato’ Azman Amin Bin Hassan,the Director General of Department of National Unity and Integration under Malaysian Prime Minister, Australian Griffith University Multi-Faith Centre director Dr. Brian Adams, UAE Sheikh Zayed University executive director Dr. Nasr Muhammed Arif, Malysian University Rector Dr. Zaleha bt Kamarudin, Deputy Rector Prof. Abdul Aziz Berghout, Mathrubhoomi M.D. MP. Veerendrakumar, Calicut University former VC and Director of Ma’din Academia for Research International Dr.K.K.N Kurup, Architect Abdul Wahid Al-Wakil and Kanippayyur Krishnan namboothirippadu attended various sessions of the conference.
