The Ma’din Academy in Malappuram welcomed thousands of believers for its annual Ramzan prayer and peace congregation, one of the largest prayer gatherings in the country, on Wednesday 21st June. The gathering which marks the 26th night of the holy month also witnessed the launching of ‘1 Million Peace Homes’ project which is a part of the Vicennium celebration of the Academy.The project was launched by U.T Khader, Karnataka Minister for food and public distribution on Wednesday. The academy would also bring in 2000 ‘Peace Volunteers’ for its anti-terrorism campaign which was launched as part of the programme. The volunteers will visit houses to spread the message of harmony and togetherness. They will conduct special learning sessions on the harmony message of Islam and will make awareness of the atrocities of terror organisations like Islamic State.The gathering also witnessed a mass pledge by hundreds of thousands of devotees against the terrorism, intolerance and hatred spread by IS and its affiliating outfits. Ma’din Chairman Sayyid Ibrahim Khaleel Albukhari will lead the pledge taking ceremony at the congregation. “The meet is a call for the unity to protect the integrity of the country besides special Ramzan prayers,” Sayyid Bukhari said.The mass gathering will also be broadcasted live. The organisers have adopted the green protocol for the event and green volunteers would be deployed at the venue to oversee the sanitisation activities. Ma’din has also conducted daily Iftar for more than thousand believers and guests during Ramzan. The event would also mark the end of the month-long campaign launched by the Academy.

The congregation was inaugurated by Sheikh Abubacker Ahmed, President, All India Jamiyathul Ulema. E. Sulaiman Musliyar, president of Samastha Kerala Jam Iyyathul Ulama presided.
