The conference came as the final one in the series of programs conducted by the academy to make the people aware of the historical significance and honors of the month Muharram. Titled ‘Madin Hijra Campaign’, the program included most importantly a workshop on Hijri calendar and astronomy, special program for women, discussion on the historical relevance of Muharram and a Hadith talk.

Madin chairman Sayyid Ibrahim Alkhaleel Albukhari led the program. In the program, he also published a new Hijri calendar based on the calculation of lunar movements, which Muslims are obliged to follow in all their Sharia related matters. Sayyid Bukhari urged the gathering to protect the sanctity and values of Muharram that their forefathers had conveyed to them. ‘Though there was no more technological development as now, our forefathers were eager in protecting the values and the Islamic calendar calculations in their mind. But, now, that we ignore those Islamic values and depend upon the calendar calculations of our brothers of other faith, with all our advanced technological and material development, is lamentable. We should be truthful to our values.’ he added.

The online broadcasting through Madin Web hub and other channels provided access for those in the gulf countries to the program in time.
Sayyid Habeeb Koya Thangal, Sayyid Shihabudheen Bukhari, Sayyid Farooq Jamalullaili, Ibrahim Baqavi Melmuri, Aboobacker Saqafi Kuttasseri, Abdul Jalleel Saqafi Kadalundi and Aboobacker Saqafi Areekode also were present.
